Yeah, I'd get a cheaper Kenwood even that does mp3 as well. Should cost around $175. Use the money you saved and replace your factory speakers (if you haven't done so) and get Sirius.

i agree with spending some of the money on speakers. Audio technology has pretty much brought us to the point that even a walmart cd player will have good quality sound, and alot of it will depend on the speakers reproducing the signal. The most important thing I ever did for my stereo was buy a set of Focal Component speakers for up front, even a $60 Roadmaster stereo would sound good with these.

It looks the same as all the other Alpine HUs. That's not such a bad thing though. Some of the other models out there are a bit too "busy" looking for me.

I already have all my speakers (infities 6 1/2 up front, 6x9's in the back) and two shiva subwoofers with a kenwood 800watt.

I sold my old deck along with the car, so I need a new deck now.

I've always wanted an alpine, and the price doesn't seem to bad. I had a pioneer in before and didn't like it that much.

do you have an amp for your speakers?? or you using H/u power? if you had an amp, i would get the 9815 (its a dead head) as it is an amazing headunit and i tried to get my hands on one for the longest time, but just couldnt sell my current deck.

or get a pioneer, or eclipse, but you have to buy those through authorized dealers.

No I don't have an amp for my speakers. Only my sub. I was going to use the HU's amp to power my speakers.

Is the amp in the pioneer's better? Seems like this model alpine has a pretty good amp in it.

Think Blaupunkt, Clarion, Pioneer.

Alpine is outperformed by these three brands, not necessarily in raw power but also versatility. The Pioneer will offer the most customization of all, with tons of extra features. The Clarion is probably the best for loudness/clarity. Both the alpine and pioneer have a .5THD rating at 18w rms.

As far as speakers go, infinity/alpine/focal/memphis/pioneer are good choices. If going with pioneers, the higher end models are actually quite impressive especially the REV Series; on par with Alpine Type-R's and Infinity Kappa's.
