What do you guys think of the 2005 Corvette C6?

My cousin just bought one.

Actually, since I've never looked at any Corvette's, is the C6 different from the Z06?

I'd take one! C6 is one fast machine

I think the C6 is the new generation, whereas the z06 was the C5 model. This is just a guess, but if so... the C6 probably has more power and other performance upgrades

z06 is also available for the c6, which is one hell of a beast.

the bolded is all wrong

Z06 is a premium designation for 'vettes, much like Cobra on a mustang. C6 is the generation designation.

Let me use the terms in a paragraph:
A C5 is what you would have bought at the dealer two years ago. You could have gotten the fastest package Z06, but you waited instead. Now the C6 is out, which is just as fast if not faster than the old Z06 and the new C6-Z06 is the fastest 'vette ever.

zo6 is the upgraded model. Its like comapring a Merc sl55 to a Merc sl55 AMG. Mustang GT to a Mustang Cobra. Its a totally different beast. I believe its 100/100 hp torque more than C6. Better suspension, subtle bodywork changes, and a more limited production number. But based on the same chasis and frame.

The Z06 is a better performance model of the Corvette. Similar to what a Z28 is to a regular Camaro. There were C5 Z06s and now a C6 model.

There is a Z06 for the C5 and the C6...

Ah, okay... I stand corrected. I thought C6 was another name for Z06 for some reason. Either way, whenever I see a Z06, I take note and know the driver isn't simply going for the look alone.

The new zo6 has bascially revolutionized the american sports car. It can be daily driven, draged, tracked, and keep up w/the 100k and up cars and a fraction of the price. But, I still would rather have a 63 split window or 67 roadster with a 454.

All Mercedes SL55s are AMG branded. There's no such thing as a non-AMG SL55.

Sweet machine but it MSRPs at $65k without options, typically has a dealer markup of $5-10k and has a waiting list several months long.

In fact even if you ordered one now you'd be damn lucky to get an 06 model at all.

lets see, some issues.

Removeable Hardtop has a few heat issues, with creaking iirc, warranty work.

um... FAST, they are REALLY powerful.

VERY practical as well, with 28mpg, and a hatchback design.

Other issues:

Rumors say it's made in America.

Interior quality still lacking compared to similarly priced cars.

what similarly priced car will perform as well as a C6 Z06? oh wait... NONE
interiors are overrated anyway - i wasn't impressed by the interior of a porsche 911 turbo
