I'm looking into buying one from a local dealership. It's a leftover 2001 model, 2.4liter 4cylinder, red with grey interior. I'm going to test drive it tomorrow morning, I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on these cars?

They are asking $13,795 for the Stratus. I used to own a 93 Dodge Spirit V6, which I didn't have many problems with. I had it for 75k miles before it got totalled, although I have heard of Dodge having quality problems in the past. I understand they've ironed out most of the reliability problems, even so, I'll be glad to have the 7/100 warranty.

Bah I'd say go for it you can always sell if after 3-4 years before the MAJOR problems start coming after you.

Why not buy a car that is proven to be reliable? Honda would be great :)

Dodge = As bad as Ford. Stick with Toyota, Honda or as you will find there are allot of Nissan fanboys here!! But import is the way to go. Personally I drive a 02 Corolla ( I got a great deal) and I love it

a 4liter engine is probably underpowering the car. They offer one with a 6 cyl. You might want to consider checking out the Pontiac Grand Prix, which is very close the the Stratus in style.

But, pontiacs and dodges loose the value quickly - where as toyota, nissans, and hondas don't. If i were you, I would be looking at how much the car will save you, over all. The price tag might be right on your dodge, but you are more than likely to have more problems than usualy, and you won't get very much out of it when you sell it.

Thanks for the info everyone. When I got there this morning, the showroom model was already sold:( It's too bad because I was more likely than not, going to buy it. The only other 2001 model that they had was a Stratus SE with 12k miles, and it was only 600 dollars cheaper than the brand new showroom model I wanted, so I ended up walking away. I did take the used one for a ride, and it drove and handled very nicely. From what I could gather on the test drive, the acceleration wasn't too shabby, even with the 2.4 liter, although I couldn't really lean on it with the salesman riding shotgun:) I'm going to keep looking around, and check out some more dealers.

here come the import humpers.

link

9.1/10 at carpoint. I HIGHLY suggest an RT though. Very beautiful car. The Stratus coupe RT is not the fastest(200hp), but it drives and looks great! Plus, it has the option of a 5 speed, or an auto stick.

The 2.4L is the same engine in the PT Cruiser and soon to be in the Neon SRT and GT Cruiser, both turbo charged and have been rumored to hover around 230hp, so even th e 2.4 could be a nice lil engine.

I suggest oyu buy a DC car now, since they have the 7/100000 warranty at no extra cost.
