Hi.

I am thinking of getting GEIL PC3500 Ultra Platinum DDR.

GEIL PC3500

What is GEIL like, for overclocking etc.

Any compatability issues with Intel chipset.

I am running Abit IC7 Max 3 and 3.2 EE.

I have read amazing things about the overclocking potential of this Ram,it can reach amazing speeds.

Anyone use the stuff??

cheers

I have it. Works fine, at least on my NForce2 board. Runs at 2-3-3-6 at DDR400, but I have to drop it to 2.5-4-4-8 once I get up to around DDR420 or so (210FSB). This is likely because I can't give it enough voltage on my MB (Shuttle AN35N-Ultra).

GEIL is the worst memory manufacturer on the planet.
I had a stick once, made my system totally unstable, and was well under rated speed.
then I read online many people were dis-satisfied with their trash, so I told the supplier to stop selling it, and gave them some URL's.
I haven't seen it since thankfully! :p

I wouldn't touch that crap with a 10 foot pole at this point!

I just bought myself a set of PC4000 2x512MB Ultra Platinum Series after one of my OCZ PC3200 sticks crapped out on me (I didn't even overclock). The reviews I've read on Geil memory saying that they are power hungry, but many other reviews say that they are also excellent performers with surprising results. I'm very happy with mine, especially after having saved about $100 CDN over a similarly spec'ed OCZ dual channel kit.

I've had GREAT experiance with GEIL. i got the Pc4000 and it is rated to cas 2.5 (something Corsair and Kingston CANNOT do) w/ 2.6V, OCs like a beast too all the way to 280 mhz

Geil's value PC3200 stuff from Newegg - the sticks with the nice blue heatspreaders - worked just fine on two 8RDA+ boards (rev1.1), and on two NF7-S boards (rev1.2 and 2.0). Rated speeds, rated voltages, no problems - however, I did later on increase that tRAS or something like that to 12 instead of 6, as it provides a slight RAM performance boost.
I'll soon be purchasing a stick of GeIL's Value Golden Dragon RAM for use in a Biostar M7NCG 400 (IGP board). Once Newegg gets a certain surge supressor back in stock, that'll complete the order and I can make the purchase and let y'all know how it turns out.

I have a stick of Golden Dragon PC3200 for my Prescott system. I only have it OCed to 216FSB (heat concerns), but it performs quite well with my Gigabyte 875P-L.
