What do you guys think about these MP3 Head units?

You get what you pay for, especially with car audio products.

In no order:

Kenwood
Alpine
Sony
Clarion
Pioneer
Higher end JVC

Other than those, don't bother.

Blau is on my marginal list.

Really? Though I have never owned any of their products, I was always under the impression that they were a higher-quality supplier.

Mmmmm, me likey Kenwood (just received my second eXcelon HU). 🙂

my one beef with mp3 players for the car is the seek time between tracks. on a friends pioneer it takes more than a few seconds between tracks which might not seem like much, but compared to a regular cd, its forever

As far as JVC goes, I've had mine for a year and a half and really like it. I have yet to skip an MP3 disk (which is an accomplishment).

I just picked up an Alpine CDA-8913 and I love it. The seek time in between tracks is the same as a regular CD, it does directory random play and full disc random play and it plays every MP3 I've thrown at it (from 128kbps to 64-320kbps VBR). It also plays WMA but I haven't tested that out yet.

You can also buy an auxilary input connector for ~$15.
