i spend it as i get it.
i went to buy some smokes yesterday and the place had a sign saying they dont take pennies! i asked and the cashier said they had no use for them, but i got 3 pennies change anyway. go figure.

when I have enough I roll and bring to bank. They go in a big plastic container.

You can collect coins and bring them to Coinstar machine to be counted. If you don't take cash, then there will be no charge. I usually take GC from Amazon or Borders or Movies.

Make sure go to the machine that has the GC that you want, not ALL of them are the same.

The local Meijers only allows you to redeem your coins at the store (minus the fee), if I drive 4 miles to Krogers they have a coinstar that allows for you to choose an Amazon GC (with no fee).

for coins on me at the end of the day, i put them into a bag and then either use them from there as i need them or after awhile i wrap them up and cash them in at the bank.

The next time you venture into the men's room in the morning (Mosh, don't give me that crap, you know you do) and there is no one else in there do this:

Throw a quarter into the urinal.
Check back later in the day to see if your co-workers fish it out.
Try it with dimes and nickels. Find out how low your co-workers will go.

I only keep quarters. I have an acrylic coin collection box that I put them in. Last time I counted them about two years ago, it was at $553.75. I haven't been putting in as frequently, so it's probably shy of $600. The thing is a beast - I need to stick the box on a scale and see what it weighs in at! I keep them on the shelf above my computer, and if the shelf ever caves in, my monitor is going to be destroyed. I guess it's become more of an obsession than actually saving. I want to fill the box up to the top, but I still have a couple inches to go.

coins are a necessary evil... I have recently been buying $1 items (coffee, donuts, etc.) and every time it comes out to $1.08 or $2.15 but with no change on me, I end up spending $2 or $3 respectively instead... the change I get... goes in the piggy bank at home not likely to be seen again for years. So yes, I did just spend $2 on a plain coffee. I keep forgetting to bring the damn coins. I don't use credit cards unless it's above $5... usually they don't like that you do even if they don't have the $10 minimum rule.

I save them and roll them. Eventually use them or take them to the bank. I put them in old mushroom jars in the meantime.

Dump them in a jar, wait until they accumulate, go to coin star and get an amazon.com gift certificate.

I was going to post this as I do the same thing.

The Coin Star stations don't take a percentage of your coins if you choose the gift certificate option.

I epoxy the pennies to tiles on the subway etc. I use the other coins in a double padded sock to beat off the bums that try to take my pennies.

That doesn't sound right. Just like a store can kick you out because you're loud and annoying, they can probably also kick you out for trying to pay with crap they don't want.

Also, wtf is a coinstar? I've never even heard of this.

I put nickels/dimes/quarters in the center console in my car, I throw pennies in the trash. Worthless fuck things..

I throw into a vase I have. I used to generate about $200 a year in change, but I now use mostly debit and credit cards. I've only got about $10 in change in the last year.

I have no specific thing I do with coins...

sometimes I put em in my pocket and use them, or they end up in my truck...

or I get them home and throw them on my dresser, they eventually, end up back in my pocket or into this basket...
