What do you guys consider the best mod chip for the Xbox is?

I would like to have one I don't have to solder. I would also like one thats somewhat cheaper.

Also..I noticed some chips don't work with certain versions of the Xbox. How can I tell which version I have? I just bought it so should I assume that its 1.6?

Solderless? I'd find someone with an Xecuter 2.3Lite+ (or 2.3b Lite+? Something like that). I have it and it works great.

I have a duoX2 - basically, the thing to consider is what will you REALLY be doing with it? do you need all the functions of the expensive ones? Mine was $15, and it supports all xboxes, has 2 bioses so i can boot to whichever i want, and functions extremely well as a modchip.

In the end, all it does is boot the box to a different file - is it really worth it to you to spend $80 for the same functionality? IF all you're going to be doing is running a modded box, go cheap, it makes more sense. If you're a programmer or whatnot, maybe look at somethign more expensive.

All I want to do is store games, movies, and such on the HD. So I can load them without any problems. Maybe some pics and such.

I've heard that solderless chips aren't worth it at all, but then again I don't own a modded Xbox, much less even an Xbox.

All you need is a cheap modchip then. The additional features of anything more than $20 don't justify the additional price. Also, don't get a solderless - the soldering is simple.

SOlderless chips aren't as durable as soldered one because if you drop the xbox or shake it or whateer, it could move and come unaligned. However if you're like ma ena my XBox just sits on a shelf or gets moved carefully, the solderless works great.

Where can I find cheap (sub-$20) for just storing games on the HD, and possibly movies for use as a cheap HTPC?
