What do you guys clean your laptop with?

How about not at all? haha. j/k

I just use the air spray for the keyboards. The plastic, i just use multipurpose cleaner like orange clean. LCD, I have a little brush to scrape off the dust. I also wet a paper towel to wipe off the dirty spot.

I use this stuff called Sharp Screen... works pretty good, people ask me if i replaced thier screen when i return thier lappys to them, and i say no i just cleaned it...

oooh good question, i'll have to check, i'm at home at the moment, but if i remember i'll try and look and let you know tomorrow

pledge has multi surface whipes....i use them on my lcd monitor, tower, everything...never caused a problem (smell bad though) i dont own a laptop, so id test them on the bottom front corner first

ok, its called rubachem sharp screen screen cleaner. contains 2-Butoxyethanol, ethyl alcohol, deionized water, and liquified petroleum gas

Are you sure you can clean your lcd screen with this?

I thought any petrochemical will dissolve the casing. wow
Thanks though

Just get a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, and mix an equal part of it with an equal part of water for the LCD screen. Of course, a little spray bottle to atomize it would be best.

Even Dell agrees:

There are many cleaning solutions sold specifically as LCD cleaners. You can use these to clean LCD screens on Dell notebooks. Alternately, you may use a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water mixture. Microfiber cloths such as those used to clean eyeglasses are excellent for use with LCDs.

I've never seen any posts saying not to use the dishwasher. Why hasn't anyone mentioned that? I'm getting mine back from the repair shop tomorrow (usually comes back dirty) so I'll run it through a cycle when I get home. Hope it doesn't malfunction again, that thing just doesn't seem to like being clean.

Wouldn't do the dishwasher.
That is silly.

If you put it in the washing machine and set it to fast spin, it comes out dry.

I dunno - it's over 2 years old and I don't get it dirty. All of the suggestions have merit. 🙂

Montag, an awesome idea! Why haven't I ever thought of that? All this time I've been taking it out of the dishwasher and letting it air dry. I'll bet that's why I get the little rust spots inside, and might also explain why the screen looks a lot like the side of my wife's aquarium. If your spin dry option isn't satisfactory, I'll give the dryer a shot- using low heat of course, so as not to damage anything.

1400 spin should ensure that centrifugal force keeps the lappy attached to the side of the drum, so as not to rattle around.

Just a tip
