That stuff does amuse me - I think the flag is to be shown more respect than to be pressed against someone's oily skin, and sat on, but the "patriots" who do without thinking will just put down the money to show exactly how much they love their flag.
I'll even respect the flag today, despite the fact that I think the current administration
doesn't deserve my respect. In my mind, our flag stands for the ideals upon which this country was founded, and the struggles endured to uphold those ideals.
I don't know what I really find to be "sacriligeous" though. That implies that I view certain things as sacred, and I can't think of anything like that right now, at least not that fits the specific definition of "sacred."
