What do you do with your GPS?

IronWing

No Lifer
Since this isn't a technical/what to buy/how did I break it thread, I put it here instead of over there.

Anyway, what is your primary use for your GPS?

The wife really puts it to the test. She goes to strange cities all the time and has to drive to multiple locations in the middle of the night.

Purchased mine several years ago for geocaching and car navigation. Primarily gets used for navigation, since I drive all over for work, but it's seen a lot of geocaching hours, too. I also use it on my bike to track speed and distance, and occasionally for hiking in new areas. I got a handheld, and the screen size and memory limits have never been issues for me in any of these applications. I'm glad I didn't get a car-oriented model.

Curse every minute I have to use the POS. I hate my GPS, and wouldn't wish it upon anyone. But it is for sale in my sig. 😀

You have a bright future in sales 😉

Garmin 60Cx I use mostly to collect tracks while hiking, might also apply the tracks to any pictures I might take.

TomTom 1 3rd, is for car navigation.

Both are for looking at the Canadian maps and bitching how bad they can be in some places.

I got some rhinos that I use while hunting, it helps to know where your hunting partners are at.

😕

What does your wife do again?

If you're my dad you beg everyone to chip in for one for xmas for him. Come through and get him one. Then it sits in a bag in the closet because he can't figure out how to use it, and doesn't drive anywhere he's not familiar with more than once a year.

I mostly use mine mountain biking. I download a track for a ride I hear is good. Then I follow that so I don't get lost in the middle of nowhere. Also I sometimes use it to track how far I went and with how much climbing. It sees occasional use in the car. My GPS: Garmin 60Csx. Jack of all trades, master of none.

I almost threw my Garmin out the fucking window when it brought me to the middle of a field, which was supposedly the theater.
