What do you do with your Echo?

I don't understand why somebody would use this for music. Can you plug it into a real set of speakers?

You can use BT speakers, powered speakers via a 1/4" stereo plug, or jack it directly into a stereo, HTPC.

That's good. I can't imagine the speaker built into it is anything other than terrible.

I have my Dot physically jacked into a nice JVC BT speaker.

I don't get why Google have not yet come out with their own Echo. Not a fan of Amazon and I'm a big Google Now user, so a device like this from Google would be awesome for home.

Doesn't any phone with google now work the same way? I imagine just having your phone on you gets the same type of features.

Point is to not have to use my phone. I want a home device that can pick up my voice from far away like in the kitchen. Ideally in the future you can install one main and then several hub devices to have it work anywhere in the house.

So why do we have an Echo if a Kindle Fire works the same way?

Because they don't work the same way. Been killing it on logical disconnects in this thread.
