I have seen many people in this forum buying top-rated HSFs. What normally people do with the replaced ones? Like the Intel retail fans, etc. Do you modifiy it to something else or just drop it to the trash can? I am just curious since I already have two replaced fans sitting on the shelf? :)

I keep a few extra ones around since I build a few systems a month for other people. For people who do not overclock (or for the people who I will not let overclock), these work fine. You can also sell them in the fs/ft forums (usuall packaged in with a few othe things). I just recently switched over my main rig to an XP set-up, I sold my old PIII CPU & included a retail hs/fan with it to the new buyer.

I put one behind my stereo amp to cool it. My 7 year old cabbaged onto the others. I don't know what he plans on doing with them but they are kept in his "special" stuff stash.
