what do you do with scrap metal

I was wondering if you just threw them away in the trash or if there is a particular thing you had to do with them (like with batteries and such).

I rarely throw anything away - and my form of recycling is to toss things into a box - a hodge podge of spare parts that get used on my stuff or selected clients stuff.

Spare parts box.

Quite a few times I've been thankful to find an odd part that I've kept for another project.

If it's not paper, plastic, glass or garbage, I rarely throw out anything. I even still have the knockouts from the case's drivebays. I think that this is because my parents were exactly the opposite, and I had a hardtime keeping them from throwing things out.

I've got a can where various small items of scrap metal go. Generally any scrap metal in this house gets collected and taken for recycling.

Plasma cutters are a very nice tool, though a bit tricky if you are not used to them IMO.

Metal should be recycled.
