What do you do with old software?

Sell it? Throw it out? Donate it?

Just curious since I am purging through some stuff and have all these old copies of Office 2000, older Norton products, and things of that nature.

What do you folks do with the legacy-ware?

If I know someone that can use it, I give it to them.

Else if I know a place to sell it and it's still worth something, I sell it.

Else I throw it in the circular file.

things like Office/Photoshop, or other productivity or content creation software I would keep, as you can still use them. Antivirus or anything requiring a subscription to keep useful I'd toss.

Exactly, although I still have systemworks 98 😱

I have a dilemma now since my local thrift shop will not take anything that is computer related.

I guess I will recycle the paper products and toss the media.

I stockpile. Unless I can give it away (or sell it), I have an ever growing mountain of s/w.

I give it away, many times along with a suitable computer🙂
I've got a P200 with 128MB! of ram and a 6 gig drive, with licenses for win98SE, works, and money that will go to a computerless family today, for instance.
