I'm trying to find an e-recycling place around here and I can't seem to. What do you guys do with old parts that don't work anymore?

I live in a small town and we actually have a recycling center for old computers. I've taken a few carloads of items to them so far.

Not working? Bottom of the trash can so the trashman won't see 'em till it's too late.

A S478 (that's a P4, right?) and with a 2.2-2.4ghz proc, some 250gb+ HDs and a couple of wintv PVR150s make a nice SD HTPC/PVR.

Hey...what's wrong with socket 478?:|

I'm still running socket 478 with a 3.06 P4 Northie. (533 Mhz fsb) :(

One of these days I'll upgrade...just in time to see the newest Dual-core Quad processors/motherboards become obsolete...

Target practice.

Since I got a blendtec blender for my Birthday this year, I am considering putting my 8800GTX through that bad boy whenever the next gen cards come out, just to see if it will blend.

He could only get half a percoset for that kind of a computer. If he keeps it he can order all he wants from Canada on the net.

what a thread....i just ordered an asrock board, 2x1GB ddr2-800 ram, and a thermaltake golden orb 2 cpu cooler to replace my pentium 4 socket 478 board. ah, that was a great cpu and board (p4 2.4C @ 2.9Ghz and an asus p4p800 mobo). sadly, the agp slot died and the bios kept defaulting back to normal if i took out the power plug. otherwise, the board is rock solid. amazingly, the same thing happened to my friends amd athlon64 machine, and on his msi neo 2 platinum mobo, the agp slot died as well! so now i have two boards just sitting here....and its too costly to go to agp.

time to go core 2 duo! well....i have a pentium D first...:(

I still have my Sony Vaio 200 mhz original Pentium operational in the house. Needless to say, it's nearly impossible to get new programs for it, but it still works for some things. (I use it as an occasional word processor and when my daughter isn't living with us  I keep it in the garage with some BMW repair manuals on it. It's handy to have access to the CD manuals without having to clean up, go into the house just to look something up...

I run a P2 333Mhz laptop running linux that I can browse the web on if I want to. Even then it is slow as hell, but it does work.

I bought it back in High School and still runs like a champ though.
