movies... if not overhead, then on my Treo PDA.

Have you ever tried sleeping pills ? You should also pick up one of those neck support pillows... I can never sleep in a seat otherwise... tried many times... I need to get one.

longest direct flight i've had was 7,5hrs, and that was too long.

Although if I didnt smoke I guess it wouldn't have mattered

do whatever on the laptop for a while (if you can plug it in), read, eat, eat, eat, drink, sleep, watch inflight movies 3x, read, and then you're just about there
edit: music also.

melatonin is a good over the counter pill that will help you fall asleep.

I usually play on my gameboy
play on a laptop, some planes have power plugs
sleep
play cards with people around you
or listen to music

I take long flights all the time.

1) Sleep - Even if you just get 6 hrs of sleep on a 12 hour flight, it cuts the waiting in 1/2
2) Read - Either paper books on on my PDA
3) Work - I usually fly in Business Class, so I have a plug available for my laptop
4) Game - Sometimes on my Gameboy Advance SP, sometimes on my laptop
5) Listen to music via my ipod

Sleep is key. It really makes the flight go much faster.

I don't drink (except lots of water) as it messes up your ability to adjust faster when you land.

I generally do not watch movies.

I pop a couple of Dramamin pills as soon as I get in the airplane (I tend to get motion sickness). The side effect is, they knock me out fast. So for me, all of the flights to and from Europe go like this:

1. get in airplane
2. pop the pills
3. wake up for food
4. pop the pills
5. wake up for the second round of food
6. landing
:)
