<< wyvrn, I wouldn't let the few who are trying, win by asking the thread to be locked. Its a good discussion, otherwise. >>

You're right. Normally I don't let people bug me like that.

I sit in front of a computer all day writing code and fighting the attrition that is colloquially referred to as the "Dilbert Principle."

Hi, I'm Chad, and I'm a software engineer.

I am a full-time student at UBC. I am studying towards a BA in Asian Studies. My main academic interest is about Sino-Korean relations in premodern East Asia.

I work on 3 jobs for a living:

UBC Library Systems - fix computers, clean, etc. Cover Help Desk during off-hours.

AMS Mini School (also at UBC) - I teach "Beginners Web Design" and "Intermediate Web Design" - Some of the stuff I teach include HTML, CSS/DHTML, scripting, ASP.NET, ADO.NET and some of the basic principle elements of MSF.

Entier Solutions, Inc. - I work as a software developer. I am currently researching Passport and will be speaking at Comdex Vancouver on behalf of Entier next month. My Comdex sessions are about .NET Languages and Mobile Interfaces in .NET. They are part of the Extreme Knowledge conference. I learned A LOT while working and interacting with other coworkers at Entier.

Entier has a client that owes us a big chunk of money right now. Otherwise I'd quit other jobs and concentrate on Entier work.

Must be kinda what's it like to be an ATOT moderator.

I am a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy. I am a submarine sailor and I hold every network admin. and information system security NEC (job code) the Navy has. With pay and allowances I made about $54K last year. I only do that cabin boy thing on the side.

No, the mods just kick you out of school if you don't play nice.

Viper GTS <-- Tech support, 2 years and counting, made just under $32,000 last year

<< 1) VTRider also dissed the salary discussion occurring... it has happened here many times and always ruins similar threads.

2) it's Saturday night, not Friday night, buttwipe.

Woah! Gunfi1ghter and wyvrn, don't want to get in the middle of anything. My mistake though, I'm guilty of quickly hitting the reply button before 'carefully' reading your first post - wyvrn I see now that you did actually inquire about salaries, sorry about the misundertanding - it all makes sense now.
So anyway, I don't have any problem w/sharing my annual income, if anybody wants to know how much $$ you can make w/the best job in the world - teaching skiing. In a nutshell, I know to always check the lowest annual income checkbox on surveys!, but hey my cubicle is at 4,000 ft. with a nice view of Mt. Washington in the distance every morning, and [ahem] did I mention I drive a Ford Escort Wagon? ;)

I shuffle lots of papers and get paid lots of money to do it. It's not fulfilling :(, but my family is comfortable. Is that wrong?

"I don't think I'd like another job."

"What about bills?"

"You know... I never really enjoyed paying bills... I don't think I'll do that anymore either."
