lmao @ dave

I used to hang out at Audiworld, but I'm jealous of the new model A4, (plus I did all my mods and stuff) so I haven't been on there in a while. I thought about buying the new S4 when it comes out this fall, but I'll probably just hang on to the car I have... there's nothing wrong with it...

You know, there's a big difference between sharing something you are proud of (like a rig you built yourself, or a car that you modded yourself) and boasting about how much money you make in a year.

I'm a recovering alcoholic working in the shipping department of a Wine Imports distributor:Q

Hopefully only temporarily though. My specialty is in Payroll Processing/Human Resources. Everyone needs a Payroll Processor, just.......not right now.....

Spent 7.5 years doing what I do best, at a place whose Territorial HQ decided they didn't need anymore. So right now I'm tossing (figuratively speaking, of course) cases of beer & wine around so I can pay the bills.:(

Do you know some of that stuff we handle sells for $250/bottle:Q????? -kd5-

No there isn't. Boasting is boasting. Obviously you had to work very hard to get your salary, and that is commendable. Likewise, modding a car or computer isn't a piece of cake either, it takes knowledge and patience that most people do not have.

1) VTRider also dissed the salary discussion occurring... it has happened here many times and always ruins similar threads.

2) it's Saturday night, not Friday night, buttwipe.

Work for my dad, repairing totaled salvage to resell on our lot. 7.50/hr, but have a car, apartment furnished, and everything in the apartment except food. Some might say my wages suck, but hey, with all the incentives, I live pretty well.

Good topic, wyvrn.

:( too bad; I was enjoying the thead.

I'm a college student, & teach tennis in the summer. i liked what i was reading in this thread cuz i've yet to declare my major and found it interesting to hear what is out there (&, of course, knowing what a profession's earning potential was interesting, too... it looked to me like sharing salary was optional)

That was the whole point Fraggle. The salary thing was just to help compare what similar careers make in different places/companies.

I am a full time student at a college, when I am out I wire Control panels for cranes and other motor drivin devices, I also trouble shoot problems with old devices such as presses and screwdriver carbonizers. I don't know most of what I need to, but I work hard and am highly praised for my work, but no pay increase. I make 10 an hour and in a few mnths will go to 12.50 (at least it is suppose to be, who knows if it will).

Full time grad student. Full time Network Admin.

Pay is embarrassingly low (work for the school). But free tuition and health benefits.

how did I get tangled up in this mess ?I posted an estimated RANGE of my net earnings only because the original poster requested it,I also feel it's important to encourage others like me who are laregely self-taught in comp tech skills.

If we want to talk about the things I'm proudest of ,trust me money isn't on my top ten list.. my kids are, my friends are my pets are, and my sweet, sweet dualie AMD MP rig is :)

now I'm going back to tagging my music.. at least nobody's crapping on me while I'm doing that

Hey, if money were important, which it is not everything, I could pound my chest and boast about my full final year in the car business, as a finance manager. It was $127K. What I've learned since then, being disabled for awhile, then trying to grow a business and making peanuts, is that I had my priorities all whacked for many years. Family and relationships first. Secondly, get a job doing something you enjoy. I will be returning to the car business in about a week. It will be a raise from where I've been for the last 4 years, but I will never whore myself out to working 14 hour days, and in some cases 7 day weeks again, just for the money. Pretty soon you end up with a pile of money and stuff, but no family or friends. I do love the car business, especially the feeling I get, helping someone get something that makes THEM happy. :)

wyvrn, I wouldn't let the few who are trying, win by asking the thread to be locked. ;) Its a good discussion, otherwise.
