Any tips for a 17yo kid that knows more than the average bear w/ computers? I NEED MONEYS! I want to do nothing like the rest of you 🙂 Otherwise I'm gonna start putting in applications for the nearest supermarkets and my computer knowledge wont be put to use and I will be underpaid 🙁.
I started at just over $11 an hour when I was 17. Not a lot in the grand scheme of things, but more than sufficient for a 17 year old who's probably living at home.
The beauty of tech support is nobody cares how old you are.
I third Viper on that one. Too many people just want to jump into the field and become some manager or director. That's not going to happen. I too started in Tech Support and worked my way up the food chain. Now I am the IT Manager and Net Admin for the main sales and marketing office of a Fortune 500 company.
