What do you plan to do after school?PhD student, biochemistry. I study enzymology. My times aren't remotely set in stone, and I can start anywhere from 6AM to 12PM, and end anywhere from 5PM to the following morning/afternoon. 30 minute commute. I wake up 2 hours prior to when I want to be at work. $20,000/yr.
wait what your a student and you work part time earning 20k per year? that is freaking good!!!!!! Or did you mean you graduated and now your earning 20k? Also is the job in the bio field? Just curious because I'm graduating next year and if I do get a job I will be earning £15k year I think. I study Dentistry.PhD student, biochemistry. I study enzymology. No. PhD students in sciences get paid as research assistants. You basically only take classes your first year, then the subsequent years are spent slaving away in a lab, working more than full time for peanutswait what your a student and you work part time earning 20k per year? that is freaking good!!!!!! seriously? is this a US thing? that is ez pez degree (no degree is easy). You study for the 1st year then you work for 2-3 years slaving in a lab? I rather take that route. It's pretty common for engineering and science grad students. For my PhD EE I worked as a researcher for several different teams, in return their grants paid my tuition plus 24k yearly stipend. I don't think I knew any peers who paid out of pocket.seriously? is this a US thing? that is ez pez degree (no degree is easy). Easy? Hardly. The pay sucks and the hours suck. There were many weeks in my PhD where I was working 6-7 days/week and over 60 hours. And on average, it takes ~5-6 years in the US. And then you have the periods of utter frustration when you hit a wall in your project...seriously? is this a US thing? that is ez pez degree (no degree is easy).
