I assume you mean why not just go do what I want to do?

I am an accountant manager.

I wish I were a chef.

Why not? Mainly because I turned right when I should have turned left and I feel too old to start a new career now. Still thinking about it though...

I fix computers for a living.

I wish I could be a programmer working for Google for Microsoft or even my own software development company.

I'm a web developer.

I wish I was a journalist of some kind. Maybe make a living by traveling to exotic places and writing about them.

I can't because I'm not so good at the writing.....and I would imagine you would have to be a great writer to get a job like that.

I'm finishing school so I can teach high school.

I wish I didn't have to do anything. Since I do, the only thing I can see myself doing is teaching. Well, that or porn.

Why not? On my way to it (the teaching on that is)...was doing other stuff for the last 15 years.

IT support

at the moment, kinda wish I were a decent photographer. why not? I owe too much in school to take that chance. and well, I'm no where near "being able to make a living" quality, haha. realistically, I have no idea. If I did, I'd be working towards that....

I provide tech support in a middle school. In an ideal world I would have gone on to grad school so I could work in geology which is what my major was in college.

I was thinking the other day it would be cool to be an air traffic controller.

I'm pretty OCD/perfectionist so I could probably do it though I'm thinking I would have to un-give up caffeine.

I'm a college student studying engineering.

I would love to be a spy and work in intelligence or anything of that sort. Anything secret. Be an assassin. Something exciting.

now: student
current plan: something in IT management or solutions while serving on state level legislation
what i want to do (here comes the list):
rock star, professional motorcycle rider, professional rally car driver, veterinarian, own my own business doing something cool, inventor, governor of Alabama (lifelong goal), work in japan for a while, fish for crabs, work on the open sea, work a job that travels the world, backpack, teacher...do i need to go on?

why?
rock star - i dont think my lyric writing is good, i'm not a great singer, i'm not great at any of the instruments i play. i suppose its possible but to risky
motorcycle rider: not skilled enough (yet)
rally driver: too much money, not enough skill
vet: dont make enough, too risky, and would require way too much school...
own my own business: got one now...want a different one...not enough money
inventor: not enough money, too risky
governor: working on it...need more time (and i'm not old enough yet)
work in japan: working on it...need to graduate
fish for crabs/open sea: very risky, bad pay, maybe later in life
traveling job: still possible
backpacker: no income, lol
teacher: still possible...just later in life

i need to get crackin' >_<

edit:

farmer: really want the land and the animals...not enough money and too much work...maybe when i'm old and rich :p
truck driver: not enough time...
tobacconist: society, sadly, is turning from tobacco and market is poor, thus it is risky

Software developer for an e-learning company.

Of plausible real-world jobs, other software development. Working on engines like Unreal or other game middleware like havok physics or AI libraries sounds like fun.

Why not? Laziness. Pay in the game industry isn't great, and the hours can be brutal.

I'm an Air Traffic Controller.

I don't think there's any other career I'd be more happy with.
