that guy who has to be on call at all hours of the night to clean up whats left of people after huge car accidents and the like.

Summer maintenance/ground keeper @ municipal sewage plant. Done it for two summers running.

Temp is 80-100 F. Little wind owing to hills on 2 sides, dump on third.
Smells bad. 'Nuff said.
Uniform - long pants. Longsleeve shirt. Hardhat, steel toe boots. Even while riding the mower or weedwhacking.
Rate of pay - approx $8/hour. When I go inside for lunch I eat across from a guy making $38/hour, with a minimum of 12 hours overtime a week.
Sewage.
Very real probability of drowning in sewage.
Sewage makes you sick.

I will concede that the mortician/police cleanup crew jobs are pretty low. However, this one also sucks.

My friend's dad used to be a mortician, I guess it was a good job for the pay. It would be kinda sick though. I think being the guy that drives around picking up dead animals off the highway would be a bad job. Taking a shovel around and picking up animals with their brains squashed out of their heads... *shudder*

i can see where there are positives for people who want to be morticians.

one can think of it as helping people retain some dignanty after they are dead. to them it may be a service position helping the absolute most needy, giving the dead repsect and helping loved ones cope w/ thier loss by giving them a cleaned up body to say good bye to.
