What do you consider to be a real truck?

What's up with the whole compact pickup thing? Isn't the whole reason pickups exists to haul stuff? Those things labeled "trucks" such as the Ranger and S-10 don't qualify as trucks to me. The bed is about the size of a milk crate and there is absolutely no room inside. Every one I pass, the driver's head is touching the ceiling and they are shoulder to shoulder with the passenger.

What's up with that, and why would someone want one of those as opposed to a real truck like a F-250? I don't get it!

Its all stereotypes. Really small trucks such as the ranger are very feminine and really large trucks such as an F250 are very redneck.

Maybe they do light hauling and don't want a gas guzzling monstrosity with a 15 foot bed and a V8.
Hellz...I know so many people with huge pickups that only drive them b/c they think they're big and safe. It's like the next step down from the soccer mom in the SUV...

My truck

Hmmm... so my truck is not a truck, eh? What kind of truck do you have? U-Haul? How fat assed are you that you need a bigger cab than this? If so, you need to start walking more.

Real Truck? Depends on if there is a real man behind the wheel.
A real truck to me is one bult by the owner. A Chevy, with a big fat engine and big fat tires. Something that you aren't afraid to get dirty, hell, something MEANT to get dirty.

I know a lot of guys like myself who would love the functionality of a pickup truck . . . but they also have to commute in heavy traffic every day. In those situations why drive a gas guzzling, oversized beast when you can have a smaller vehicle which gets decent milage, handles better in crowded streets/parking lots, and can accommodate most of the stuff you'd ever need to haul? I think it's a matter of functionality. If you're going to be hauling huge sheets of plywood and lumber all the time you probably do need a full sized truck. But for most people, the hauling capacity of a midsize or compact truck is usually sufficient and more practical.

Peterbuilt. I would settle for a Western Star or a Freightliner. A new kenworth with 7 bar grill would be nice too, and a 460 detroit.;)

Is Nissan owned by Volvo?
B/c Nissan's slogan is Nissan: Driven
Mack, also owned by Volvo, also sports the slogan...Mack: Driven.

Coincidence?

Those little trucks aren't so bad, really. I test drove an S-10 when I was looking for a new car, and I was mighty impressed with it, much more than I expected. The price is right, and sometimes a big truck can be overkill.

<< A Maxima kicks a trucks ass. >>

Mwahahaha...... keep dreamin ;) I'll smoke that Turkey Maxima with one piston tied behind my tailgate

I don't like the small trucks either, S-10, Ranger or Dakota.... and after having my GF's fathers Tundra for a week I hate those too, I'm 5'7" and could hardly fit in it, those 4.7's need a vavle job avter 40K miles and it struggles in high altitude.

I hate all the pretty boy options and OHC crap, trucks are made to be SIMPLE and STRONG, when your towing a 9000lb load you don't have time for an electronic device to go out, you have to get the job done.

I think that's the whole point--if you're hauling 9000lbs, you NEED a big truck.
If you just want to be able to move a piece of furniture once in awhile, you DON'T need a full-size pickup.

Ya had me up until you said Detroit. 550HP Cat with a 21 or 18 speed is the only way to go for the big rides ;)

If someone could host a small pic for me I'll show you my last office.

Sorry, I hung up my CDL a few years back. You are right. When the turbo kicks in on a 550 Cat, and you slip into overdrive, pulling 40 tons with that wrapped in a nice Kenworth 900 skin just makes my nipples hard!;)

LMAO

I know that feelin'.

Speaking of which. My friend picked up his 02 W900 with a 550. I took that for a spin last saturday pulling propane. OMFG, no down shifting at all, just press down on the throttle a little and away she goes. In fact he's having problems with his tires. There's so much torque available he's cutting his tires at a 45 degree angle from it. He has to learn to drive all over again.
