LMAO

You should also archive episodes of the original Star Trek, Star Trek:TNG, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise so you can show how to take a premise, ruin it, and then run it into the ground.

Geez, and I thought I watched too much TV. When do you guys get time to watch all that stuff? The only weekly shows I have my PVR set to record are:

-Friends
-Scrubs
-King of Queens (Leah Remini - yowza!)
-ER (sometimes)
-Ed (sometimes)
-random stuff on TLC, Comedy Central, Cartoon Network, etc. (not weekly things)

Most of my PVR's drive is eaten up by movies. I'm LOVING the Starz Superpack. We used to have HBO and couldn't stand it. Yeah, the shows were occasionally pretty good (still don't see what the big deal is though - if I'm paying extra for a 'premium' channel I don't want shows, I got million other channels for that.) But HBO's movie selection sucks. We wanted movies and switched to Starz and it's been about 50 times better for our tastes.

The only problem now is getting all those movies off the drive. Fortunately, my S-VHS VCR is going to come in handy again as I'm in the process now of transferring a lot of them off the PVR to S-VHS without much loss in picture quality.

I stopped recording movies when I switched out my last common area TV for HDTV (the only standard TVs in the house now are in the guestrooms and garage). Now I buy DVDs or watch movies in HD. I can't stand watching movies in SDTV anymore. :(

I've become a TV elitist.

Ok, so not every UPN show is awful. I should have excluded the ST series.

No, its mainly their half-hour comedies that are awful. Actually, the only thing I watch on UPN is Buffy. Which means, after this season, I won't be watching anything on UPN.

I usually come close to filling up my PVR (only a 40 hour). I still have a ton of shows recorded but unwatched. I watch a bit at a time mainly when I am playing with my infant son or letting him sleep on my chest.

Forgive me for the hijack but...
Does anyone make a PVR that can be networked with other PVRs? I would like to get two (one for my bedroom and one for the living room) but what if I record a show on one and want to watch it on the other? If you could connect the two and "share" it would be ideal.

I'm kind of the same way. I watch in spurts which means my drive gets backed up. All those movies have 50+ hours of my 60 hour DishPVR nearly full.

I'm still a couple years away from being an elitist. We were POSSIBLY going to buy an HDTV later this year, but our main TV died on us last year so I couldn't justify spending over $1,700 on a TV at that time. So we bought another 32" SDTV to hold us for the next couple years until prices drop further. I really can't complain about it too much though. After switching from cable to Dish Network the significant increase in picture quality is enough to keep us happy for a good long while.

The new ReplayTVs can be networked and you can also download episodes to your PC to burn onto SVCD, etc.

Yeah, that's probably what I should have done. But the bastards at Sears put their HDTVs right at the entrance that I always use to get into my local mall a few years back. The damn things started calling my name. :(

ttt = to the top = bump

Anyways, does anyone have any reviews of these units, etc? I'd like to pick one up, but I don't know much of anything about them.

Thx thawolfman, I have a Tivo and I highly recommend it. It make life so much easier (if you are interested in tv at all). You can set up season passes for the shows that you always watch, meaning you set it up once to record and never have to worry about again. Plus you don't have to worry about commercials ever again (just fast forward thru them). You don't have to worry about buying vhs tapes unless you want to transfer from the tivo to tape. I don't think my fiance could live w/o the tivo. She has to watch her soaps, now she can catch up on a weeks worth in just over 3 and 1/2 hours. Plus since I work 3rd shift I get to stay up to date on primetime shows and I can watch them anytime. Just my personal experience, but if I were you I'd definitely look into the PVRs if you are at all interested.
