What do you call this kitchen appliance?

I want something that can squeeze the water out of onions. So it would be something where you would put an onion or a piece thereof in, and it would have a level that you would press down onto the onion, and the water would flow through holes on the side opposite of the lever pressing down.

What the heck would you call that?

Thanks!

Sounds like a press of some sort, but I don't know if what you're talking about is a thing.

Are you looking to keep the (dried out) onion, or keep the actual 'juice' that comes out?? If the former, just get a dehydrator. If the latter, page Kaido. :D

I think you can purchase dried onion flakes in a can.

Is this like those french onions you put on top of the green bean casserole for thanks giving?

No. They are straight up dehydrated onion bits, not fried like the ones you are talking about.

What you're looking for is an onion press.

I haven't done it myself, but I've read that people use juicers to make onion juice:

Although it depends what you want the end product to be. If you want dryer pieces of onion, maybe a handheld onion press?

Haha, you guys kill me! Thanks so much, I ordered both the linked onion press and a lemon press just in case it works better. I want it to make this, which requires the use of onions that have had most of their liquid squeezed out - might be the world's best food:

You do it like you do with potatoes for hash browns. You grate the onion and squeeze off the water. You can do it in your hands, or place the grated onion in a linen dishtowel and wring off the water. Oxo has a video on YouTube of how to use their potato ricer for this if you really want another useless kitchen gadget.

I dunno Carson Dyle, I think one of those gadgets I ordered would make the process a lot easier!

Hell I dunno sportage, but they don't use fully dried stored onions when making the stuff, they use fresh onions with most of water squeezed out of them. You are going to cook the onions inside the meat, so I suspect there could be a real difference.
