What do you call this kind of blanket?

I want one that is kind of heavy, that feels substantial when it is over me. But that is "loose", or has small holes in it, so it lets plenty of air through and I don't feel too hot.

Is there a special name for this kind of blanket? Or that should be my search term and I just need to search, search search?

Thanks!

We literally just bought one of these:

Heavily weighted, but open so closer to a hammock than a blanket. Company's called Bearaby. We've got other weighted blankets for fall/winter/early spring.

I received one as a gift a few years back and I don't see what the fuss is all about with these things.

I sleep "warm" so it's way too heavy to use as an "AC" blanket in the summertime and I much prefer my down-comforter in cold weather.

Thus mine is relegated to "spare/guest" blanket duties.

for a lot of people, the extra weight helps them sleep better and is really like being cuddled or maybe reminiscent of being swaddled/held as a baby. helps people feel relaxed and has a calming effect.

one of my kids sleeps under literally 7 regular blankets on top of the comforter. i asked about getting a weighted blanket, and the response was "why"? indeed.

Another useful keyword for the blanket with holes type is "Crochet"
Crochet is the type of "weaving" in the blanket, not a type of blanket.

I don't get the appeal of weighted blankets. We use only down comforters so we can have the warmth without the weight.
