what do you call math, physics, chem collectively?

Hope your school works on credit hours and not just credits like my place. Chemistry + lab is one credit, a history seminar is one credit; you spend 3-4hours in lecture and another 4hours in lab in Chem but only 3-4hours in class for history per week. If you have 2 lab courses in a semester, normal for a science major, it's the same as taking 2 extra courses. grrrr
