The shelf my keyboard sits on is 20? wide, and the keyboard is 18? wide. I want to be able to have my mouse next to it, so I am looking for a narrower keyboard. Does anyone make one? What about one without the right side number pad? That ought to shave off 4?.

I unscrewed my shelf and put my keyboard on top. But actually though, I have a trackball so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. I just didn't like it.

I have never understood why keyboard trays don't have room for the mouse. I just use a straight table without one for that reason.

My keyboard shelf is 28" long, so thankfully I have enough room for the mouse next to it.

I would probably just use the top and take out the shelf if both couldn't fit.

I'm in my living room at the moment, sitting in a recliner. my laptop is on a table near my left knee, with the center of the screen at eye height... my usb keyboard is on my lap, and my mouse is on a wooden cutting board on the right arm rest.

My table is flat, no tray, so yes. Hurt my hands/wrists like hell the first few weeks though. Now, they feel fine.

I have a regular desk, at home and at the office. I don't think I've ever used anything with a keyboard tray.

My keyboard tray is wide enough for my logitech keyboard and another 8 inches where I put the mouse

If my desk didn't have a tray my wrists would probably break

I hate trackballs. Never could get used to them. Unless we are talking about playing Arkanoid or other arcade classics, but those cabinets used huge trackballs by comparison.

Well, now there is an idea. I could take the wheels off of my desk, which would lower it exactly the same amount as the tray is. hmmmm...

Keep it away from the air conditioner for best results. This should be printed on the outside package of all mice!
