This is the system that I currently plan on building. The total comes to 951.83 with out shipping. Any problems with the hardware configuration? BTW what is the difference between the OEM version or the retail version? Will this effect preformace of my computer? Thanks for the help

looks the same as every other computer listed in a "how does this look" thread 😉 ok, seriously now... i don't see any conflict. i have not had problems with western digital but i think a lot of people will recommend either a maxtor or ibm (not the 75gxp). for close to the same money you can get a 10x or 12x dvd drive instead of the cd-rom drive...or if you don't need a dvd drive you can spend just a little more and get a 12/10/32 cd-rw.

the difference between retail and oem/bulk is the packaging and sometimes the accessories. retail means it is the same as what you would find on a store shelf. oem/bulk means it is just the piece of hardware (unless otherwise specified) with no cables/accessories/manuals/etc... (again, unless otherwise specified)

STAY AWAY FROM CREATIVE CD DRIVES AT ALL COSTS!!! they are loud and have an amazingly high failure rate...i recommend an asus or teac drive...other than that it looks pretty good!!! the difference between retail and oem is that retail comes in a fancy box with all the cables, screws, and software...oem is just a bare drive in a bare box!!! unless you need the bundled software, just buy oem...they are much cheaper

Switch the Micron for Crucial. Spring for a better sound card (like the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz). The CD-ROM is extremely loud.

Speakers? Monitor?

Uh.... Helpful...Crucial IS Micron......
Skip the Creative drive. Either get a burner ...Plextor....or get any old cheap, generic, CD Rom

Looks good, although maybe a new CD-rom would be a good idea. Also, if you don't mind spending a bit more, the GTXP is a great soundcard and Antec cases are nicer than the enlight. Those are just some suggestions though, everything you have should work.
