what do we need....

whats the number of servers that we need? maybe we have some others who can talk there bosses into letting them use the server(s) to crack

I'm agreeing with your approach, but why stop at any given number? - I think I understand what logic you're putting across though...

Something along the lines of - "It will take X processors" therefore each of the current 677 active members must assimilate Y machines to equal Z crackrate" Am I on the right track?

[edit]and... before I get flamed again from someone who believes servers are something real special - I'm talking about in test labs or during burn-in or something OTHER THAN PRODUCTION machines.

based on the fact that over the past 7 days, the DPC have been beating us by 675,000 work units, we need to assimilate 750,000 mhz of PIIs PIII, etc.

this works out to each person needing to assimilate 1.1 ghz of cracking power to take back the spot that is rightfully ours.😀

I agree with Dan, though. Why stop there.
 
yes you were on the right track, what I am tring to do is get people to relize what they need to do 🙂

ok now were down to 749,000 mhz to go. Cmon people keep on crackin ... Hehehe

I should have a P2 400 by the end of the week. Nothing special but we can use any blocks we can get.
 
ya but we dont know for sure if Dans gonna get them...

im optomistic but we cant rely on it ... He also wont have them 24/7 just a for a little bit i thought.
 
Just as an example: To have matched the DPC yesterday, we would have needed 1000 - 1GHz TBirds running 24/7....:Q (1,000,000+ blocks!)

To be honest....I would love to have 1000 new members with the potential to add 1000's (plural) of new PC's cranking out blocks for TEAM Anandtech! 🙂
 
If anybody lives in the area of DanC I'm sure he could really use some help during this. 80 datacenters with how many computers each is quite a lot. It will obviously be a network setup .. but still help is probably desperatly needed on his end.

If/when it goes through this will be phenomenal.
 
Dan's burn ins are not going to help us in the long term, with catching the DPCs in the dailies. Once he is done burning in the systems, we are still going to get our @sses killed in the dailys. There is only one way to fix this problem: assimilate more computers
