Even though gastric ulcer is a common disease, a diagnosis can be difficult because it has a wide spectrum of clinical presentations, ranging from asymptomatic to vague epigastric pain, nausea, and iron-deficiency anemia to acute life-threatening hemorrhage.

I had a bad ulcer 15 or so years ago and felt like had eaten a live squirrel that was trying to eat its way outbut seriously was pain like knife in my back and front just below sternum. Quite horrible at times. Intermittent could feel good for 2-3 days then unbearable for a couple days. Depends on type and location of ulcer definatly have a doctor look at it.
