I work for Bell in Canada, and they are slowly but surly switching their wired networks to voip
 
All I know is that thier commercials are annoying as HELL !!!

ehi dunno, i really know very few poeple with a landline phone anyway, most hvae their cellphones and if it wasn't for certain thigns such as long distance i think wired landlines would be extinct
 
I'm in charge of migrating our current PRI based PBX to a voip asterisk server which will save us approximately $800 a month is phone charges. VOIP is now.

Also have Vonage... With the referral program, I won't be paying for LD for over the next 2+ years... with an extra virtual number so friends and family back home can call us too.($930 and change sitting in credit).
 
my local ISP offers a wireless broadband internet package that includes VoIP for $80/month. seems like a no-brainer if i have line of sight to their tower
 
I use vonage. I love it, I use over 800 minutes in long distance a month between me and my GF. And all for 24.00 a month.
 
when i have bandwidth to spare😛 not soon. unlike other countries we don't have 40mbs or whatever connections for cheap here. goddamned 1.5mbs connect.

1.5mbps is way more than enough to run VOIP

VOIP = Voice Over Internet Protocol, so no.....and with VOIP, you're replacing landlines, so you don't need a landline.
 
I've been using AT&T Callvantage for about 8 months now. No problems, and even the wife loves the voice quality. And to top it all off, they have been charging me a $20 promo rate for the entire time (was only supposed to last 6 months).

Suck it qwest........Suck it long, and suck it hard.
