what do u guys think about this msi mother board

what do u think about this mother board, have u heard any good reviews on it, is it worthy! i want to get a amd 3500 64 and have a ati x800xt pci-e card now i need a mother board, so curious is this a good one..............MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum nForce4 Ultra Athlon 64 Skt939 DDR ATX Motherboard w/Audio, Gigabit LAN, RAID/Serial ATA Retail

Some people have had bad luck with some MSI boards but other than that it looks good

The Ultra is the board I want. Here's an interesting find with this board---> Ultra does SLI

I would get the Asus A8N-SLI.

Also save some money and get the 3200+ Winchester Core as it OC's just as far as the 3500+.

thanks for the advice, is the Asus A8N-SLI. out yet, do u have it? if so how much are they and where do find them?

though i dont need two slots for a video card, i have a ati x800xt pci-e card, so cant afford two cards.


ati pci-e cards will peform just as good as a nividia card and a nividia chipset on a mother right?

MSI is a bad company in my eyes. There are only a hand full of companies that have earned my respect (not easy to do) they are: Asus, Abit, and Gigabyte.

ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI Chipset is the board u say to get, but just wondering i have a ati x80xt pci-e card, will that perform on the nforce 4 board just as well as a nvidia card. i know u cant use two ati cards on the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe nForce4 SLI but u can use two nvidia cards! can u use just one ati card on there and will it before as well or is more compatiable and more optimal with nvidia cards over ati cards, ok thanks please let me know what u think...................

from the benchmarks i've seen, ATI cards run faster on the Nforces (at least NF3) than on VIA or competing chipsets..

they didnt do anything to hinder them. if that is a concern.

i think the article i got my info from was on extremetech about 6mo ago. sorry for being so vague.

They dont run faster. ATI runs faster on ATI boards. Nvidia runs faster on Nvidia boards. Each includes optimizations for their cards.

I didnt say they didnt.

What i said was that running a ATI card on a Nforce does not slow it down purposely.

Nvidia put nothing to hinder the ATI cards.
In fact, performance is better with a ATI card on a Nforce than on a VIA chipset (for instance).


Both do optimize for their own cards, but the OP asked if NVidia did anything to HINDER the ATI cards on an Nforce. When they in fact run extremely well (at least better than on a VIA or other 3rd party chipset).
