I've recently found an old CD box with many CDs full of back-up data, fotos and games I purchase from a friend almost 7 years or so. And yeah, there is some good MP3 music in this case (oh, what a nice years to download muze!). The thing is I want to see all this info this afternoon, but then came my neighbor, this little sucker, with a 8GB pen drive and a video on it... He can´t see that video, because their PC was crammed with trojans. I diligently copy its video to my desktop, formatted his p drive, restored the video to the p drive, deleted the video from my desktop and, finally, I run the video from his p drive only for my neighbor could see a bunch of his gal-friends swinging in little thongs on the beach south of my town...

I actually am devastated, and I'm writing this from a Cyber Cafe, because after that, It was IMPOSSIBLE to me to read ANY CD or DVD when, in fact, early in the morning I could do this thing without a problem... I disconnect my PC from the internet after 2 trys of updating the McAfee AVirus Software. Apparently, my antivirus failed to detect some virus; furthermore, this software gives a strange error code and the real-time protection was shutted and I can't reverse this situation. There is not more 'viric' behavior from my PC, but, until now, it refuses to read ANY CD - DVD.

Please, any suggestion will be very appreciated... 🙁

Hey gsellis, thank you VERY MUCH... In my country we use to say: "At least you take the hat from the drowning man..." That is because, after two trys with the "System Recovery Console" of XP, I finally can READ and WRITE on DVD FORMAT; yeah, and nothing yet on CD FORMAT 🙁 But here goes your suggestion. Hence I'm gonna make a full scan with the portable version of DR. Web; even if it probably can't clean my system up, I'm thinking it at least will detect the [removed by Moderator] malware, don't it?

In the technical sections of the Forum, we have higher standards against foul language than in ATOT. 1 word removed.
