inside pill capsules.............i guess they are little balls of chemicals but do they have a specific name?

pills usually come in two varieties.
1) solid compact powder shaped into little disc/circular shapes
2) gel caps which can be pulled apart and inside are little round balls of chemicals.......
what do u call the little round balls of chemicals inside gel caps.......they may not have a specific name i am just curious

its hard searching for something that you dont know what its called or if it even is called anything.
they're called MICROCAPSULES. My daughter has taken medicine every day of her life that I have to open and sprinkle onto applesauce because she's not old enough to swallow the whole thing, so that's how I know.

I already told you it's granules.
A small grain or pellet; a particle.
There may be another medical term that also applies but I'm sure granules works too. (Edit - Microcapsules like tekchik said)
I'm tempted to start posting like this... maybe then people will read what I post.

I'm writing a story about a mom who slowly poisons her kid by putting microcapsules filled with cyanide in her food.

For real though i was just curious cuz my new meds are gel caps with microcapsules inside instead of the usual solid state pill form

my understanding now is that the gel cap contains many microcapsules which contain concentrated amounts of chemical or whatever.

or both........the possibilities are endless! just think the microcapsules can contai super micro capsule that contain individual granules of chemical.......oh rejoice oh rejoice
