looks like a reverse game port plug (female instead of male) and is on old pc's i thought it was called p/s2? i have a laptop that doesn't have this and was looking for a usb -> this input for my pda
 
That's a DIN-5 connector used for mice and keyboards, it was replaced after the AT design with the current PS/2 Mini DIN-6. You can easily find adapters to convert them.

Edit: NVM, I re-read your post, it's a serial port.
