What do they mean by "caps mechanically obstruct"?

Hey guys I wanted to purchase a SI-120 heatsink by Thermalright, and I was reading the mobo compatability on the Thermalright website and for my mobo (P4c-800 Deluxe) it says: caps mechanically obstruct pipe slightly, cap tilting necessary."

Now I was just wondering what they meant by this? And is it a good idea to tilt ur caps?
 
One of the capacitors on the board is in the way of one of the heatpipes. In order to make it fit you would have to tilt the cap out of the way, which may damage your board and void the warranty.
 
Damn that doesn't sound too good. I really wanted to get this heatsink on the account of all the good reviews on it but I guess I have to go hunting for another one.
 
You'll be fine. You can bend them near horizontal to the board and it'll still work. Just be careful and don't break them.
 
The ninja is alright, but it's a big beastie and my fan sits on top of my RAM (A8N32). If i were doing it all again i'd get a SI 120.
 
Bending a capacitor is alright, you just have to do it carefully so that you don't snap one of its leads from the motherboard.
 
Wow that scythe ninja looks likes a beast. I don't know if i would be getting that, none of the stores near my place seem to even have it.

I really like the SI-120 and will probably take a chance and try bending the capacitators as far as need be.

Also this question is completely off topic but I don't think its worth starting another thread over, but how do you guys clean the inside of your computer? My computer is covered in dust, every nook and cranny i could think of and there is a thin layer of dust over my vid card and everything and I just wanted to know how I could wipe that clean (if I can wipe it clean in the first place). So far I haven't had any problem, but I read that the dust could cause a heat buildup and sometimes can even conduct electricity, which is probably not a good idea.

Don't wipe the dust from components, carefully vacuum it. You can even buy special brush attachments for vacumming computers.

I'd get a can of compressed air, take your PC outside, open it up, and blast away. Then when you're done cleaning out the PC, take the can of air, turn it upside down, and spray your significant other 😉
 
Can of air is what I'd use, and no, I'd never spray people. You can cause frostbite - seriously. However, you can kill bugs by freezing them and then tapping them - they crack and fall apart. :evil: You can spray onto a sheet of paper with the can upside down just to see what it does, but besides not doing that to people, don't do it to your computer components.
 
lol freezing bugs, spraying it unmentionable place, I would hate to make you guys angry when you had a can of compressed air with you 😛.

I bought that stuff once, and I don't know if I purchased some cheap one but the can would get freezing cold when you used it for a minute or so and sometimes you could actually see it spraying some liquid whenever I sprayed it on my keyboard so thats why I never tried to clean the inside of my computer with it.
 
I own a SI120 it fits almost any mobo..you will not need to bend any caps...very easy to install

Comes with a retention bracket..remove the stock bracket..screw in the bracket.
place chip in, small dab of AS5 in center of IHS, place the clips on the bracket on one side, place hs down with pressure and clip remaining 2 clips and all done..less than 5 min

They all get freezing cold from the phase change. Cant get around the laws of thermodynamics.

Do I need to take the mobo out of the case when taking off the stock bracket and screwing in the SI-120 one?
