Don't know for sure what they mean but my experience with fatal exception errors in the past tells me that, unfortunately, its time to reformat and reinstall. Maybe someone else has a better idea.
i think it's when a program tries to use the same memory space that another program is already using, and when that happens, windows doesn't know what to do and gets all stupid and gives you the red x
if you go to microsoft's support site, you can search for "fatal errors" and they should give you a list of fatal errors and their descriptions.
