What do the BSOD codes mean?

My box has been freezing during games (DoD) and DVD playback; but almost never during other activities, including editing photos and embedding them in MSWord documents.

Sometimes it locks up solid, and sometimes I get a BSOD, and sometimes the in-game on-screen graphics disappear. When that happens I run Norton, which indicates a memory error (it always goes away after restart).

I've been writing down the BSOD codes. Were can I go to find out what they mean?

Also, any other ideas about solving this problem?

Sounds like a video card driver error possibly, espicially if it happens in games mainly....Download the latest drivers and install them...

Thanks John, knowledge base indicated a potential problem with old Symantec/Norton programs. I am using Norton SystemWorks 2001 Pro, which isn't old, but maybe its related.

Also thanks DaLeroy, that's what I've been wondering. I'm using detonator 12.41, OpenGL 1.0.0.121, Direct X 8.0 (4.08.00.0400), VIA 4-in-1 4.31. Any suggestions?
