What do stretch marks look like?

I have these red marks on my shoulders but I'm not sure if they are stretch marks or not. They are not raised or anything. It just looks like scratch marks but without the scratches. Just red marks right under the skin. I wonder what they are. Thanks.

PS. Are they permanent?

Yep, thats them. That means you have gained weight recently, too much for your skin to handle.

No, they aren't permanent.

It depends....

Umm..I guess itd be nice if they weren't, but...proof?

they can be permanant. well, kind of. they can form scars. look at some ametuer porn, look for scarring in the hips/buttox area, and it'll appear. likes that tend to follow a pattern.

Just look at my son's mother. She is one big stretch mark. She's also the biggest bitch in the world, but that's another thread.

I'm not sure exactly what it depends on..

Their environmental conditions, probably. You will see lots of women with permanent stretch marks...

I had a bunch on my back after I grew a foot in a couple years.

The only thing that came of them was rumours that i messed around with some real demonesses.

they're gone now.

If it's still new marks, you have a good chance of getting rid of them with some Retin-A. If you wait too long, they are permanent. See a dermatologist.

they are sometimes itchy, not a whole lot just a little. they are pink when they are freshly ripped and eventually turn white. They are permanent, yes.

I've heard there is away of getting rid of them with retnol A treatment. It causes the skin to shed and re-growth appears over top of where the stretch marks were.

Three reasons for them are weight gain, muscle gain and baby gain 😉

EDIT - Best way to prevent them is keep your skin hydrated with a good lotion. Petroleum Jelly or Vitamin E, pure olive oil.

I got streatch marks 3 years ago when I first started treatment for my thyroid disease and gained 30 pounds in a month (the disease had made me incredibly skinny). They have largely gone away, but I still have some small marks on my inner thighs.

I have some near my shoulder.... I worked manual labor for a few years when I was 15-17 and I guess thats when I got them. Never worked out for more than a few weeks in a row so thats not a valid reason 😛

It depends on your age. If you are young..they will start to dissappear if you begin to lose weight. Your skin will tighten backup.
