What do people use thier Linux boxes for?

I have a couple of linux boxes, both running Mandrake Linux 9. One does NAT/firewall duties while another does fileserving & runs my jukebox software (Netjuke - http://netjuke.sourceforge.net )

I am building my first desktop system right now, a Debian netinstall with XFS filesystem.
I use freebsd on my router/firewall, and my dev/samba/dns/apache box.

IMO, Linux makes a badass server and a lousy desktop. The only Linux-based computer in my house is my firewall, and it does a damn good job of that.

Frankly, anyone who tries to use his computer to impress chicks has alot more problems than the OS running on said computer 😉

Frankly, anyone who tries to use his computer to impress chicks has alot more problems than the OS running on said computer 😉

whatever DUDE, my fancy desktop I spent weeks perfecting is the best thing I got going for me! If it's not that then it's the new spoiler and racing stripes I just bought for my 1988 Crystler Lebaron. It's a convertable! all Chicks dig those.

You should check out my OTHER car. My mom gave it to me when she got her new pimpin' tercel. So I did my 'thang to it.

She was so happy she cried with joy.... for 3 hours.

she kept mumbling something about producing another rice boy, but I had no idea what she was talking about.
