I feel sorry for those that chose to drink alcohol.

Consuming alcohol is a sign of weakness.

I feel sorry for people who don't drink :(

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day." - Frank Sinatra

And a relevant one from George Burns:
"It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth."

Good beer is one of the tastiest things in the world.

How close are you to the Rogue brewery? Think you can export...oh...two or four kegs of Chocolate stout to my front door?

:p

Oh, and Empyrean Dark Side Vanilla Porter from Lazlo's in Lincoln, NE is
I also like Leinenkugel's Doppelbock. If you asked me to describe what beer SHOULD taste like, it would be that one.

Heh. It's down on the coast in Newport, close to a 3 hour drive from Portland. Sucks they don't ship beer... :p

When I had my first pint of Guinness I almost gagged. I thought it was terrible and couldn't understand how people could drink it. I felt sick the whole lunch period and sipped it terribly slow.

I kept on drinking it, trying to give it a chance. It grew on me. Over a few months I began to enjoy the taste of it. Now, four years later, it goes down as easily as coke or water.

I always thought the "you develop a taste for it" stuff was pure bull that my parents told me....turns out its the truth!

Yeh, but all I can get the chocolate stout in is 25oz bottles. I'd prefer six packs or the keg denominations. :D

I drink beer mainly because hard liquor knock me out quickly and the hangover is not as severe.

Actually, beer has the worse hangover, if you drink equal amounts of alcohol that is. Beer has many more toxins in it than liquor does, and since you're drinking a much higher volume, you get a much worse hangover. With liquor it is much easier to go way beyond what you would drink if you just drank beer, which is why you get worse hangovers from them typically. But I can guarantee my worst hangovers are from nights I only drank beer.

Well of course. A case of beer is what 10 shots?

About. I'm not sure I understand what you're saying though. Are you saying it's much easier to drink 10 shots than it is to drink 12 beers, at least for hangover purposes? Because, I would wholeheartedly agree with you.

What % are the shots you guys do :Q

Around here most are only 40%

What toxins are you talking about? Depending on the beer you get yeast (good for you), carbohydrates, alcohol, some stuff from hops (also thought to be beneficial), and some protiens.

didn't read all the posts

a beer home brewing guy I knew years ago once showed me that most beers is an aquired taste to most people (similar to coffee), and everyone has a particular beer they will like no matter what, it's just a matter of finding the flavor/brew combination. most beers you buy from the store (bud, coors, etc.) are lager types, it turns out I can't stand lagers, but give me a dark (whatever that means) that has a slightly sweet taste and I usually like them. you can find all kindsa better info that what I remember (which is likely to be incorrect from my fuzzy memory) from that guy with a simple google search
