what do people on the west coast watch on New Year's Eve?

this question came up amongst my friends tonight... living on the east coast, all the NYE specials on TV are broadcast out of Times Square, and that makes sense since the ball dropping in NYC is the biggest thing in our time zone.

but what about people on the west coast? are there whole other NYE tv specials based around LA? is the NYC ball dropping broadcast on a 3-hour delay? it seemed like Dick Clark was always in Times Square, did people on the west coast get to experience him too?

Umm yea of course it's shown on a three hour delay.

3 hour delay on the ball usually. Some stations show local stuff like the fireworks at the space needle etc.

Old people watch the NY stuff live so they can get to bed early.
