What do I set my clock settings at to get my processor right speed?

Hi all, I just got an A7N8X Asus board for my 2600XP processor.

What are the settings in the bios to get the processor to display the correct speed, and how do I do this in the future?

Thanks!

The A7N8X has a jumper on the motherboard that switches between 266/333 and 400. Since the 2600 is a Barton with a FSB of 333, set the jumper appropriately. The default is 266/333, so unless you moved it, it is already correct.
Go to the "Advanced Chipset Features" in the BIOS and change the "External CPU Frequency" to 166.

PCHPlayer is right

but one small correction 🙂
the 2600xp comes in a couple versions, one of them is a 266mhz part. if yours is that version you will need to set the fsb to 133mhz not 166mhz

Funny, I looked at both newegg and mwave and could not find a 2600 with a 133 FSB. Thanks for the correction.
