I want to get a quiet hsf but it takes a 3 pin mainboard connector...and most motherboards cannot handle a fan directly plugged into them. So is there like a connector I can use to hook a 3 pin connector up to my psu? Thanks.

You can get a 3 to 4 pin thingymajig. But my Zalman 7700Cu runs fine from the mobo 3 pin connector.

what mobo do you have? That fan will probably run fine on most mobos.

I read in the manual that you're not supposed to do that as it'll burn out the "headers" or something. Can someone please provide a link to what connector i need?

I have the exact heatsink & fan,it is fine to plug into the motherboard header due to the fact that it has a low rpm & power requirement. It is an 80mm case fan, which is fine to plug into the motherboard. You don't need to waste money on a connector 🙂
