What do I need to watch a .m2v video?

I have WMP 9 and RealOne. Do I need QuickTime or some sort of codec or what?

A DVD player like PowerDVD or something like it. Though I don't see why there shouldn't be a codec for it for WMP9.

Try this. Once you install it you can watch the video with WMP. The only downside is that it shows a small logo in the upper right corner whenever you play an mpeg2 video.

He means...software like PowerDVD...You do not have to have a DVD player.

I know. That's what I meant too. I do have a DVD drive and a DVD player .. I just don't have any software to play DVDs installed at the moment.

ist just a mpeg 2 file. interchangable with .vob.m2p etc

No, you need to use an authoring tool to make it .vob files.
