What do I need to know?

I'm just switching over to verizon dsl from 56k. I've never dealt with anything like this before. The dsl modem will be here tomorrow. What do I need to hook up 2 computers to it? A router I guess? I'd prefer a wireless one. What do I need to know about setting one up? What about security? Can I use a wireless router as wired to one computer and wireless to the other? Thanks.
