what do i need to get optical from sblive val to my minidisc

The cheapest is $14 + $5 shipping from audiencedp. That's the one I got 'cause I didn't need MIDI or digital inputs. It doesn't take up a slot like a daughtercard but only uses a knockout by the keyboard connector and stuff.

It's the third piccy down ($12 + $2 combo).

Actually, there are two models -one for the original Live! and one for the newer one:

In any case you might run into a problem so check those specs...

"Digital output frequency and bit rate of this product apply to the SB Live exclusively. Since the digital output from the SB Live was set to 48KHz only, the recording operation to the MD or external DAT devices supporting 44.1KHz could not be made properly."

I just ordered the DBII after I realized that it is only a slight bit more expensive then the DBI, and offers much more functionality. Who knows, maybe there will come a time when I'll actually use all those other I/O's... 😛
