What do I need to do to run a P3 800e (133) on a BX board?

I plan on running the above chip on an Abit BE6 Motherboard. In order to run this chip on this board, I also need to overclock the FSB from the BX's normal 100 mhz to 133 mhz. Do I also have to overclock the AGP bus to run a stable system? What do I have to overclock the AGP bus at? Are there any other things I should do to make sure I run a stable system? Is this advisable to do? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

the AGP will run @ 89 MHz if you set the AGP to 2/3 multiplier (it should already be there, assumign you didn't have a celeron or an old pre-350 MHz P2)

you'll need an AGP card that can handle the FSB

what video card you have?

It should work fine. The only stumbling block is the AGP speed-- you'll be running at 89Mhz, which is over the spec 66Mhz. Most videocards these days handle that fine, like Geforces, Voodoos are fine (TNTs are not). Make sure PCI divider is set to 1/4, instead of 1/3, so all your PCI devices and hard drives run at 33Mhz, otherwise they may freak out. (I THINK the BE6 has a 1/4 divider, I used to have one, I forgot...) Also, PC133 memory is the way to go, some PC100 memory is fine at 133Mhz, some is not.

First, make sure you really want a P!!!800EB, which is the 133MHz variant. The P!!!800 is the 100MHz version. There technically isn't an 800e (the "E" designates Advanced Transfer Cache and Advanced System Buffering, which is common to all FCPGA P!!!s). If you can get a P!!!800, then you won't run into any of the 133MHz FSB problems you describe.

As others have noted above, if you plan to get an 800EB, then you will need 133MHz capable SDRAM, a vidcard that can handle an 89MHz AGP bus, since the BX chipset limits you to a 2/3 multiplier (no 1/2 available), or you can go with a PCI vidcard as some BX boards offer a 1/4 or 1/3 PCI multiplier at certain FSBs above 100. GeForces/GF2s are good at 89MHz, as are most V3s. I've found TNT2s flaky above 83MHz. Don't forget to get a good quality Slotket (I can't remember if the 800EB is available in a SECC package). And don't plan on overclocking becuase there just isn't much FSB headroom left above 133 with a 6 multiplier.

Good luck.

If you really want a 800EB,
I have yet to find a 600e, that won't run at 800EB with a golden-orb and the right ram. Could save you some money.
