What Do I Need? Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI

I have a Surface Pro that I'd like to connect to my Dell 3007 30" display, which only accepts dual-link DVI connections.

I've found "active" converters that are display port to dual link DVI, including one from Dell that is made by VisionTek ((#900639). Despite Visiontek saying its limited to 2560x1440, Dell quote 2560x1600. Visiontek even makes a mini display port version (#900640), but again, they say 2560x1440.

If the only things available are full size display port, will throwing a display port to mini display port converter mess up the works?

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

If it's dual-link DVI and supports 1440p, it 99% probably supports 1600p. Dual link DVI is dual link DVI.

That said, if you're worried, you can buy one of the full-size adapters. The mini DP to full DP is just a pinout change*, it's not an active adapter.

*to my knowledge
